Petr Zelenka is a Czech film and theater director, screenwriter, and playwright born on June 14, 1967, in Ostrava, Czech Republic. He began his theatrical career as a playwright in the early 1990s and has written and directed plays such as "The Year of the Devil" and "Tomorrow I'll Wake Up and Scald Myself with Tea". Zelenka is known for his unique and unconventional approach to filmmaking and has directed notable movies like "Buttoners", "Year of the Devil", and "The Karamazovs". He has won several awards for his works, including the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and his films have been screened at various international film festivals. Apart from filmmaking, Zelenka has also taught film directing at the Prague Film Academy and has written several books and essays on film and theater.
